Asparaginase under the US brand name Generic Elspar is a prescription enzyme drug applied in an injection form. The drug is employed to address some types of blood cancer like acute lymphocytic leukemia. Asparaginase decomposes asparagine (a crystalline amino acid found in proteins) in the blood stream so that neoplastic cells (cancer cells) cannot get the asparagine they require in order to exist. Generic Elspar is mostly used in conjunction with other medications to cause remission of the disease. However, it is not effective in sustaining remission.

Usage Guidelines

Gulping down additional fluids while you are using Generic Elspar (Asparaginase) is prescribed. Discuss with your doctor for directions. It is generally dispensed as an injection at your physician's workplace, hospital, or any other healthcare facility. If Elspar carries particles or is stained or hazy, or if the ampoule is broken or spoiled in any case, it is recommended not to use it. If Asparaginase unintentionally falls on your skin, wash it away right away using soap and water.
